Last adaption: 07.2020

New:

  • Layout adjustment

Introduction

If the UMA is implemented in an environment where there is no complete synchronization of users and public folders between the mail server and the active directory, it is necessary to ensure that the correct attributes are used when editing or creating a user/public folder.
This Wiki article explains which attributes are necessary for users in the Active Directory and what has to be considered when assigning the values so that the UMA can register these users.

Necessary attributes for users

The necessary settings are made in the Active Directory The procedure is as follows:

  • Right click on the user to be edited
  • Select properties
  • In the opening window, in the tab Attribute Editor, the values of the attributes can be edited

sAMAccountName

  • This is the value with which the UMA creates a new user/mailbox (user name for the user interface)
  • If this value is changed, a new user/mailbox is created.
Access to emails that belonged to the old sAMAccountName is then no longer possible.

proxyAddresses

  • Under this attribute, email addresses for the user/mailbox as well as alias addresses are stored, which are to be archived
  • The addresses stored here are compared with the address in the header of an email and, if they match, assigned to the user/mailbox
