Missing PPPoE Active Discovery (PAD) packages

With "PADO" and "PADS" messages (see Information on PPPoE) the feedback from the Internet provider is missing. Either the "PADI" or "PADR" packets do not reach the provider, or the provider does not send packets back.

Solutions to this are usually:
  • Wait a little
  • Restart the modem
  • Update the interface with the CLI command system update interface, or restart the Securepoint UTM
  • If a router is used that has been set to a modem state, its configuration should be checked
  • Check whether the connection requires a VLAN ID.
The connection must then be set up as VDSL. The modem may add a VLAN tag by itself.
  • If no errors can be detected, the provider should be contacted.
  • Authentication

    Log Service:
    pppd
    PAP authentication failed

    Incorrect login data

    • Here, the settings should be compared with the provider's login data
    • In particular, attention should also be paid to upper and lower case

    DSL modem or line

    Log Service: pppd
    No response to 3 echo-requests
Serial link appears to be disconnected
    Connect time 1.7 minutes
Sent 789644 bytes, received 15063162 bytes

    DSL modem or line

    • The modem is not designed for the DSL speed
    • The provider provides a DSL speed that is not reached
    • Disable Link Control Protocol (LCP) on the corresponding PPPoE interface of the firewall (wan x )
    • Have the line measured by the provider
    • Exchange of the modem

    Connection termination

    Connection termination

    Missing LCP

In case of a 24h disconnect on the part of the provider, the connection is not re-established Missing LCP
    • Enable Link Control Protocol (LCP) on the corresponding PPPoE interface of the firewall (wan x )
