Query with snmpwalk

  • Snmpwalk can be installed on Debian based systems with sudo apt install snmp snmp-mibs-downloader.



    To use this command, you have to set up SNMP on your appliance (cf. SNMP).
    The MIB files from the reseller portal have to be moved to /usr/share/snmp/mibs/.


    Syntax: snmpwalk -v <version> -a <hash algorithm> -l <security level> -u <username> -A <password> -m <MIB files> <appliance address> [OID]

    Parameter Example value Meaning
    -v <version> 3 SNMP version
    -a <hash algorithm> SHA Hash algorithm for authentication
    -l <security level> authNoPriv
    (authentication but no encryption)
