This article describes how to renew an Apple Push certificate.

Introduction

Apple Push certificates must be renewed every 12 months
It is important that notempty
under no circumstances a new certificate
is created.
All devices that use the old certificate would then lose their communication with the MDM!

Renew Apple Push Certificates

Call the dialog to update an Apple Push certificate in the Securepoint Unified Security Portal at:

Downloads the current Apple Push certificate in *.pem format

Download of the Certificate Signing Request

This is provided by the Securepoint portal and is required in the next step.
Call Apple Push Certificate Portal

Log in to the Apple Push Certificates portal

Log in to the Apple portal
Ideally, this should be the mail address shown in Fig.2 under point 3, e.g. in the format mdm.Customer@appleid.com or mdm.Customer@gmail.com.

Renewing the certificate

Create a Certificate notempty
If a new certificate is created, all devices using the old certificate will lose communication to the MDM!
Renew Calls the dialog for renewing the push certificate
Download Downloads the currently existing certificate.
Renewal can also be performed if the push certificate still has a long validity.
Revoke Revokes the existing certificate
  • All devices using this certificate lose communication to the MDM!
  • Browse This button selects the Certifitcate Signing Request (*.csr file) previously downloaded from the Securepoint Portal

    Upload Uploads the *.csr file in the Apple portal.
    To create new certificate of the same UID, which will be valid for 12 months.

    mdm.customer@appleid.com Apple ID used to create the certificate.
    This field should be used to note which Apple ID was used.
  • Check if this email address is still correct.
    An email should have been sent to this address by the Securepoint Mobile Security Portal 4 weeks before the certificate expires with a request to renew the certificate.
  •  Certificate
    (see Fig.2, step 4.)
    The *.pem certificate you have just downloaded can now be uploaded to the Mobile Security Portal.
    Done The renewed Apple Push certificate was successfully uploaded.
