Introduction

This wiki article explains how to deploy apps in the Mobile Security Portal and how to request installation on the device. The created users refer to the company structure of the demo customer TTT-Point AG.


Overview of the app administration

  • In the Apps overview, you can add new apps, edit existing ones and delete them
  • In addition, apps can be installed and uninstalled for the associated devices, users, groups and tags
  • Apps can be displayed in list or tile view; you can view details of existing apps and refresh the list

General Options

Button / Entry Description
Menu Apps
Search Filters the tiles to apps whose tiles contain the search text

Clicking this button opens a menu where the tiles can be sorted according to specific criteria
Name The tiles are sorted by the name of the app
Ascending/Descending Sort order
Add app
 Add app 		Provides an app in the portal.
Import app
 Import app 		Provides a (company-owned) app in the portal that is not downloaded via the Apple Appstore or Google Playstore.
Show details
Show / hide details: For a lot of apps, it can be helpful to hide the display of the most important details.
List view / Grid view
/ 		Switch between lists and grid view.
Update
Refresh the display

App Options

The button at the top right of each App tile provides the following options:
 Edit (see below)
 Export Exports all settings for this app to a file
 Kopieren Copying the app/apps to the clipboard
 Install Installs this app on the corresponding configured devices
⨯ Uninstall Uninstalls this app on the configured devices
 Delete Removes the app from the portal.

Copy & paste of apps

Click on the logo of the app tile to mark one or more apps. In the general options, another field now appears under the filter mask.
Action for selected items Please choose Execute the selected action with Ok
Copy Copies one or more selected apps to the clipboard.
Delete Deletes one or more selected apps
New button   Paste Inserts a copy of an app-configuration from the clipboard. (After selecting the Copy option and Ok button).

By clicking on an app tile, the information and further configurations of the app are displayed in corresponding tabs.

The app settings can be customized.

  • When activated   , the supervised state is activated for the app
  • When deactivated   , the supervision takes place manually if the app is already installed

    Set under Settings
    • If Static Version is selected for the app update setting, the static app version is also displayed
  • Lists the respective iOS device present in the MDM with the installed app version and information on the last update

Add app

An app can be added using the  Add App button.
Apps purchased in Apple Business Manager can also be made available here with  Sync with Apple VPP.
The app can be linked to devices, roles, users and tags. You can also upload your own icon (JPEG or PNG). With the selection of the platform also different sources are available.

Edit App

By clicking on the app tile or with /  Edit the settings of the app can be edited.
All fields listed in the  Add App section can be edited.

Delete app if the MDM profile has been deleted

Deletes the app from the device when the profile is deleted.

The deletion must be confirmed. Deletion options:
Remove without uninstalling Removes the app from the portal. Installations on devices remain.
Uninstall and Delete Removes the app from the portal and simultaneously from all installed devices.

Install App

A single app can be installed by /  Install The device user will be prompted to install the app (Android) or to install without user interaction (iOS), respectively.

Uninstall App

A single app can be uninstalled by   / ⨯ Uninstall on the associated devices (by users, devices, roles or tags). The device user will be prompted to uninstall the app (Android) or uninstall without user interaction (iOS).
