Licence types

The note USR active indicates that devices with this license are listed in the Securepoint Unified Security Report (USR). The following license types are available:

Mobile Security - Device Protection Mobile Device Management with device security through security functions of a NextGen UTM with vpn
  • If a device with an MDM license is added to a profile, the Security tab is disabled.
  • notempty
    All devices that are already linked to this profile also have no access to the security functions (VPN, content filter, etc.)
  • If the device with the MDM license is removed from the profile, the Security tab is available again.
  • MDM Mobile Device Management (without device protection by e.g. Cyber Defence Cloud, vpn)
  • Devices with an MDM license do not have access to the functions in the security tab of the   Profiles configuration.
  • If the configuration from a profile with the security function (Mobile Security License) is to be applied to devices with an MDM license, the profile can be copied.
  • Unified Endpoint Protection - UEP
    Device license that applies to all end devices: mobile devices, Windows computers, routers and other end devices
  • The features of Mobile Device Management (MDM) as well as those of Windows VPN and Cloud Shield are included
    Technically speaking, it is an MDM license with Windows VPN and Cloud Shield
  • Softwarev11 Securepoint NextGen UTM (for Unified Reporting)
    Securepoint AV Securepoint Antivirus Pro (for Unified Reporting)

    License synchronization

    The existing licenses in the portal are automatically synchronized with those from the reseller portal.
    The  License sync with RSP button can be used to manually initiate the synchronization of licenses with those from the reseller portal.
    All existing licenses in the reseller portal are transferred or synchronized to the portal.

    License usage

    • In the lower section of the portal's navigation bar, the usage of available licenses is displayed based on the enrolled MDM devices, managed and notempty

    • The display differentiates between license types and the types of enrolled devices



    License tile details

    When opening one of the displayed license tiles, the details of that license are shown. These details are organized into different tabs.

    General

    Booked devices

    The number of booked devices for the license is displayed according to the device type:
     iOS devices,  Android devices,  other devices,  Windows VPN,  External devices via Cloud Shield
    The number of profiles is also displayed

    Default Licenses

    This function is only available on  iOS devices.

    With the default license, a license is defined that is automatically applied during the enrollment of IOS devices. This ensures consistend licensing.

  • A valid MDM or Mobile Security license must be available.
  • To set a license as a default license, there are two possible ways to configure it:
    • Through the  Burger menu using the option  Assign as IOS default
    • In the license details under the tab  General bei  iOS Default using the button  Assign as IOS default



    Allowed Number of devices

    This function is only available when logged into the portal with a reseller account.

    This function is only available for licenses of the Mobile Security type.

    Through the license details, it is possible to set the allowed number of devices for this license. The default maximum value is set to 5000.

    • Selection of the License tile to be used
    • Tab General
    • Under  Allowed Devices enter the desired number of users. The value is saved via   Save and automatically synchronized with the Reseller Portal
    • The Button   Delete resets the value back to 5000
      This diagonal window opens, which provides an additional reminder



    Assign / change licence manually

    If no license is assigned to a device (e.g. because the term of a license has ended), or if the license shall be changed, this device can be assigned to a (different) license:
    • Selection of the license tile to be used
    • Tab Assignment
    • The desired device can be assigned in the click box: Device
    Assign devices
  • Devices with an active UEP/MDM license can be assigned to a Mobile Security license
  • Devices with a Mobile Security License can not be assigned to a UEP/MDM License during the term of a licence for compatibility reasons.
    After the expiration of a Mobile Security licence devices can be assigned to an UEP/MDM licence.
  • License change: From Mobile Security to UEP/MDM

    If the license of a device is to be changed from a Mobile Security license to a Unified Endpoint Protection (UEP)-, or Mobile Device Management (MDM) license, the following steps must be taken:
    1. Delete the mobile security configuration from the device
      : Settings → General → VPN and device management
       : Settings → Passwords & accounts
    2. Deleting the configuration from the device may have to be authorized by the administrator
    3. Book the UEP/MDM license in the Resellerportal
      In the RSP at  Customer, select the Create license button for the relevant customer on the customer page
    4. Move the expiration date of the Mobile Security license forward in the Resellerportal
      This can only be set by an User with the role Verified Reseller
    5. After the Mobile Security license expires, the UEP/MDM license can be manually assigned to the device (see above)

    Expired license

    It is important to ensure that the license does not expire and is renewed in time!

    With an expired license, the functions of the Securepoint Portal are restricted

    Unified Endpoint Protection (UEP) and Mobile Device Management (MDM) licenses
    Windows VPN clients and Windows profiles:
    • Clients and profiles are still visible, clients get the label License expired
    • The  Enroll new VPN client button is hidden
    • Tab  Operations and  connections in the clients are disabled
    • Changes to profiles are not pushed to clients with expired license
    License of type Mobile Security (MS)
    Android:
    • Devices cannot be added to a profile
    • A profile with devices cannot be saved
    • The profile cannot be changed in the device details
    Licenses for the UTM
    • After 40 days, UTMs with expired licenses are automatically removed from the USC if there is no ASC configuration
